GIRLS 14U PROGRAM INFORMATION

USA LACROSSE AGE LEVEL GUIDELINES

2022-2023 AGE GUIDELINES
Effective 9/1/22 through 8/31/23

To choose the program your player is eligible to play, find their birth date in the date ranges below.

Kindergarten Program:  Current & Incoming Kindergarteners
 8U House & Travel Program:  9/1/2014 - 8/31/2016
10U Program:  9/1/2012 - 8/31/2014
12U Program:  9/1/2010 - 8/31/2012
14U Program:  6/1/2008 - 8/31/2010
*6/1 cut-off date is for current 8th graders only, although all 8th graders can play. 
Current 9th graders are not allowed to play on a 14U team per league rules, but some of our offseason programming will include 9th graders.

USA LACROSSE MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

An USA Lacrosse Membership is required for our programs.  When registering, our system validates USA Lacrosse Memberships.  Please make sure your player's name, zip code and date of birth match what you used when signing up for your USA Lacrosse Membership.


GIRLS 14U ACTIVE REGISTRATIONS

GIRLS 14U SPRING/ SUMMER 2023 PROGRAM

NOTE!  Girls 14U age level includes players born between 9/1/2008 and 8/31/2010.  

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 17, 2023
Register EARLY to be guaranteed a spot.   

UNIFORMS

Registration fees include uniforms. Information will be sent out following registration.


2023 14U GIRLS PROGRAM OVERVIEW: 
Spring / Summer Season $575 (includes uniforms)
April 1 – July 30

The Girls 14U Program is a hybrid travel team program that encourages girls of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced.

  • The Edina Girls 14U program is a spring/summer program which runs 17 weeks.
  • It is expected that girls will arrive at PRACTICES 10 minutes prior to the start of each practice and be ready to play (goggles on, sticks ready, mouth guards in) at the start of practice.
  • It is expected that the girls will arrive at games ready to warm up 30 minutes prior to game time
  • We have enhanced our program by providing Athletic Performance Training built into early season practicesSessions will be offered during the spring that will be tailored to the needs of youth girls lacrosse players to help them improve their strength and conditioning directly related to the sport of girls lacrosse. 

PRACTICES 
Practices will be 1.5 hours, 2-3 nights per week, mostly Monday-Thursday and some Sunday afternoons

Our athletic performance training will start Saturday, April 1st. Details to come post registration.

GAMES 
- 1-2 scrimmages this spring
- 8 regular season games mid-June through July  
- Expect 1 or 2 games per week mid-June through July.  Games are scheduled in the evenings. The game schedule will be available in late May or early June.
- Games are against other local associations, typically within the Twin Cities metro area.  There will be some moderate travel for approximately half of the games.

TOURNAMENTS
We will participate in three tournaments - Wayzata (May 20-21), Prior Lake (June 23-25) and MSLAX League State Tournament (July 27-30). 

TEAM FORMATION
Registration numbers will dictate how many teams are formed.  

COACHES
Head Coaches are paid and professional. Our head coaches have previous college playing experience and significant youth coaching experience. We enlist high school varsity players and current college plays as assistant coaches.

14U:  $575 FULL Spring/Summer***
          $425 **HS PLACEHOLDER STATUS** 
 

**IMPORTANT NOTE!  For those 14U aged players interested in trying out for Girls High School (HS) teams, please register for HS PLACEHOLDER STATUS ($425) in the registration section. For these players, payment for the EARLY SEASON ($150) portion will be collected, if applicable, once HS team status is finalized. 

***A payment plan is offered at sign up that will allow you to make 3 equal payments - at registration and in March & April.  

Registration fee includes: 

  • Spring scrimmages and summer league games
  • Full uniforms: jersey, skirt, shooter shirt
  • Certified and experienced coaching staff
  • Edina Park & Rec per player fees and field costs
  • MSLAX League fees
  • All tournament fees
  • Specialized sports strength and conditioning program

Please review the Refund policy below before registering your player.

In addition to the Edina Lacrosse Association registration fee, a USA Lacrosse Membership is required and must be valid through July 31, 2023. When you register, your player's name, address and birth date must match the US Lacrosse Membership; if not, you'll receive an error message.

REQUIRED GEAR

  • Girls’ lacrosse stick: Girl’s sticks are different from boys’ sticks.  Most visible difference is that girls sticks don’t have a pocket.
  • Girls’ lacrosse goggles - Must be SEI Certified.
  • Colored mouth guard

VOLUNTEER:
As the season approaches, we'll have more details around volunteer opportunities.

  • Parent assistant coach:  Help with practices when it fits your schedule. No lacrosse experience needed! We simply appreciate having a parent to help manage group size and kids’ focus so that head coaches can spend their time coaching the game. If requested, specific lacrosse training will be provided.
  • Game timer / score keeping / field set up:  We'll assign 2 parents per home game. Once you are assigned, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find a replacement if needed.
  • Behind the scenes: May include one or more from a variety of opportunities including - but not limited to - roster preparation for tournaments, team manager (training provided), snack coordinator for tournaments, coordinator for scrimmages.
